Midgley Meadows Rabbit Rescue and Sanctuary

Midgley Meadows Rabbit Rescue and SanctuaryMidgley Meadows Rabbit Rescue and SanctuaryMidgley Meadows Rabbit Rescue and Sanctuary

Our Current Sanctuary Rabbits

Ahsoka

Breed: Mini Rex

Age: 4 years

Background: Ahsoka was one of our first sanctuary rabbits. She was being advertised on Facebook as snake food alongside her siblings. I managed to rescue Ahsoka and her sister Leia but unfortunately I was too late for their siblings. Ahsoka was part of an accidental litter. Though she is small in size, she makes up for that in her bossiness towards her friends.

Boris

Breed: New Zealand White

Age: Unknown

Background: Boris came to us when his owner had to rehome him due to personal choices. His owner loved him that much that she asked if he could stay with us so she could see updates on our Facebook page! Boris has fitted into our fluffle like he was always meant to be here.

Chestnut

Breed: Mixed

Age: 7 years old

Background: Chestnut was another owner surrender due to personal and work commitments. Chestnut has lived a life of luxury and was spoilt immensely by her previous owner. Due to her age and the fact her front feet are wonky, her owner asked if she could live out her remaining years with us and the sanctuary fluffle, obviously we said yes!

Din Djarin

Breed: Mixed lop eared

Age; 1 years old

Background: Din came to us as part of a large hoarding/breeding situation. Though only a year old, Din has not had the easiest of times. He suffers from chest infections and has been a very sickly bunny. Due to these ongoing problems, it was decided that he was best staying with us than going to a new home. He is currently 4 months free of any signs of a chest infection so we are hopeful he will continue to grow and gain strength and live a long and happy life.

Finn

Breed: Netherlands Dwarf

Age: Unknown

Background: Our sweet boy Finn found himself at our sanctuary when his owner went of to university and couldn't take Finn with her. Due to Finn being a Brachycephaly (flat-faced) breed, he suffers from problems with his teeth, eye ducts and nasal passages. We have to keep a super close eye on him to make sure that he is able to breathe clearly, see clearly and that his teeth don't grow at strange angles/shapes to keep him pain free. Finn goes for 6 monthly checkups to make sure he is a happy and healthy bundle of chaos.

Jar Jar Binx

Breed: Continental Giant

Age: 2 years old

Background: Jar Jar was brought for me by my mum shortly before she died. He is a super special bunny who holds a very very large part of my heart. My mum loved Conti's and was very upset when we lost some of the cont's we had rescued a year before. Jar Jar is a big friendly giant with a friendly and super soft personality. Don't get me wrong he can be really really naughty.

Penelope

Breed: Mixed Lop eared

Age: approx. 7 months

Background: Penelope had been abandoned on a park for a week before she was finally caught and brought to us. She was thin, hungry and pregnant. Less than 24 hours after being brought to us, she gave birth to 9 babies. Penelope was undoubtedly stressed and needed help feeding and taking care of the babies. Though we lost 3, the remaining 6 are flourishing and Penelope has really grown into her motherly instincts and is proving to be a wonderful mother. Once the babies are weaned, Penelope will be spayed and bonded into the sanctuary fluffle to regain her childhood and learn how to be a rabbit.

Robbie

Breed: Lion Lop

Age: 2 years old

Background: Robbie was found, shortly after Christmas, dumped outside a vet centre. He was covered in fleas, skinny and very frightened. Once he had been treated for his fleas, we were approached and asked if we could find space for him. Robbie suffers from blocked tear ducks and needs them flushing to stop them getting sore and irritated. We also believe that he is deaf (though my husband just thinks he chooses to ignore me) which means he gets spooked easily. Robbie has bonded really well with Din and has started to use Din's body language to determine when it's dinner time, when someone is present or if there is danger. He is also becoming a lot more confident with human interaction making our lives easier to keep him clean and healthy.
