Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at midgleymeadows@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

YES 100%!!! All the bunnies here are neutered and vaccinated. We also neuter and vaccinate the rabbits that are in the rescue. This is to ensure that they stay healthy against fatal diseases. Neutering all the bunnies whether they are staying with us or looking for new homes, prevents accidental litters, ovarian/uterus and prostate cancer. It also means that we can bond all the sanctuary bunnies into a large fluffle giving them the social interactions that they need to lead happy, healthy and fulfilled lives. Neutering the rescue rabbits also helps to make sure they stay healthy, but it also makes it easier to bond to potential partners.

Rabbits are the 3rd most neglected pet in the UK. There are over 100,000 in rescues all over the country and this is why we have chosen to mainly focus on them. Plus I have had a love for rabbits ever since I was a little girl and wanted to share that passion with other people.

The answer isn't a straight forward yes or no. Rabbits do make wonderful pets BUT they are not an easy pet to keep. They are classed as an exotic animal so finding insurance and a good rabbit vet can be very difficult. Rabbits are complex creatures and therefore they are not the best fit for a child or children. Rabbits are a prey species, they have a very high flight drive and can be spooked easily. A frightened rabbit can do itself some serious harm and harm to those around them. If not handled properly a rabbit can easily panic, jump and break their backs. Also rabbits need to be kept in a minimum of 2 as they are highly social creatures. Rabbits need a minimum of 60sqft of space 24/7. A hutch in the back of the garden is not a suitable home for bunnies and should never be there only source of shelter. I always suggest researching as much information about rabbits as you can and always adopt.

Yes. Rabbits are classed as an exotic breed and therefore vet bills and insurance is going to be higher. Rabbits can also live around 12 years and can cost upwards of £5,000 a year to look after properly.

Sharing our Facebook ,instagram or TikTok pages is a great way to help us.

Donations are another way to help whether that is in the form of money donations or sending us donations from our wishlist

More importantly, do you research!! The more people who learnt to care for their rabbits properly in the first place, the less rabbits would end up in rescues.
