Small in size but absolutely enormous in attitude, Ahsoka is the undisputed queen bee of the MMRS fluffle. Nobody gets on her wrong side — she rules the shed with sass, authority and plenty of side eye.

Her story: Ahsoka was one of our very first sanctuary rabbits. She and her sister Leia were being advertised on Facebook as snake food after being born as part of an accidental litter. We managed to rescue Ahsoka and Leia, but heartbreakingly, we were too late for their siblings.

Today, Ahsoka is very much in charge of life at the Meadows — and we're fairly certain she wouldn't have it any other way.

Billy is our happy little cheeky chap who loves head rubs, banana and being exactly where he shouldn't be. He's a curious boy with plenty of personality and has a real talent for finding mischief.

His story: Billy came to MMRS with his late partner, Lola, when their family sadly weren't able to take them when they moved. Billy is prone to dental problems and needs us to keep a close eye on his teeth — largely because, despite our best efforts, he's rather naughty about eating enough hay!

Now 8 years old, Billy gets to spend his retirement surrounded by his fluffle, enjoying plenty of fuss, getting into places he has absolutely no business being, and hoping somebody might produce a piece of banana.

Brownie is our adorable little bed-head bunny who somehow manages to make permanently messy fur look fabulous.  He's a wonderfully happy little chap and an absolute joy to have at the Meadows.

His story: Brownie was born here at MMRS. Sadly, his parents were siblings, and the effects of inbreeding have left him with a number of lifelong health problems. These mean Brownie requires additional care and his life expectancy may be shorter than we would normally expect.

Brownie's fluffy little face also needs plenty of maintenance! He has daily grooming, regular hair trims and his tear ducts need cleaning weekly to keep him comfortable.

Despite everything his little body throws at him, Brownie remains a happy, characterful boy who takes it all in his stride — usually while sporting some spectacular bed hair.

Din is a sweet little soul who has had a much tougher start to life than he deserved. Despite everything he's been through, he's continued to grow in confidence and has become a very loved member of the Meadows family.

His story: Din came to MMRS as part of a large hoarding and breeding situation. Sadly, from a young age he suffered with recurring chest infections and has been a particularly sickly bunny.

Because of his ongoing health problems and the possibility that he may need additional veterinary care throughout his life, we decided that the safest place for Din was right here with us as a permanent sanctuary resident.

Thankfully, Din has now gone several months without any signs of another chest infection. We're keeping everything crossed that he continues to grow stronger and gets to enjoy the long, happy life he deserves.

Finn is our happy little bundle of chaos — a wonderfully cheeky boy with a big personality who keeps us thoroughly entertained at the Meadows.

His story: Finn came to MMRS when his owner went away to university and sadly wasn't able to take him with her. As a brachycephalic (flat-faced) rabbit, Finn is predisposed to problems affecting his teeth, tear ducts and nasal passages.

Because of this, we keep a close eye on his breathing, eyes and teeth to make sure any problems are spotted quickly and that he remains comfortable and pain-free. Finn also receives regular veterinary check-ups so we can keep on top of his ongoing needs.

Thankfully, Finn doesn't let any of that interfere with the important business of causing chaos. He's a happy, mischievous little character and we wouldn't have him any other way.

Gerry is our quirky little sun-worshipper who loves nothing more than finding a warm patch in the shed for a good afternoon nap. He's also a huge foodie — fresh veggies are always appreciated, but banana is apparently exciting enough to cause happy bum twitches. 

His story: Gerry came to MMRS when his owner was sadly no longer able to care for him. They asked whether Gerry could remain with us permanently as part of our fluffle, so they could continue watching his adventures and keeping up with him through our Facebook page.

Of course, we were more than happy to say yes, and Gerry became a permanent member of the Meadows family.

These days, Gerry's priorities are fairly straightforward: sunny naps, his bunny friends, plenty of good food and keeping a very close eye on whether anyone happens to be carrying a banana.

Jar Jar is our big, beautiful gentle giant with the softest personality — although don't let that innocent face fool you, because he can also be really naughty when the mood takes him. 

His story: Jar Jar holds an incredibly special place in our hearts. He was bought for me by my mum shortly before she died, making him one of the most precious members of the Meadows family.

My mum absolutely adored Continental Giants and had been heartbroken when we lost some of the Contis we'd rescued the year before. Jar Jar therefore became much more than simply another rabbit — he's a very special connection to her and will always have a permanent home here at MMRS.

He's grown into the wonderfully friendly, soft-natured giant she knew he would be, with just enough mischief thrown in to keep us on our toes. Jar Jar will always hold a very, very big piece of my heart.

Pancake is an incredibly sweet little boy who absolutely adores human company. He's always happy to see us, loves a cuddle and has a habit of following us around while we're trying to clean — presumably to make sure we're doing it properly. 

His story: Pancake was born here at MMRS alongside his siblings Brownie, Snowy and Vern. Sadly, he has been more affected by health problems than his siblings and particularly struggles to maintain his weight.

We keep a very close eye on his condition and give him additional nutritional support when needed to help keep his weight as stable as possible. Because of his ongoing health needs, Pancake will remain here with us as a permanent sanctuary resident.

We don't know what the future will hold for our little Pancake, so our focus is simply on making sure that every day he has with us is filled with comfort, companionship, cuddles and all the things he loves.

Lady Penelope — or Lady P — is one incredibly resilient little rabbit. After everything she's been through, she's earned her place at the Meadows where she can finally concentrate on the important things: being safe, being loved and simply getting to be a bunny. 

Her story: Penelope was found abandoned in a park, where she had been living for around a week before she was finally caught and brought to MMRS. She arrived thin, hungry and heavily pregnant.

Less than 24 hours after arriving, Penelope gave birth to nine babies. She was understandably exhausted and overwhelmed, so we stepped in to give her the additional support she needed to care for her enormous little family. Heartbreakingly, three of her babies didn't survive, but Penelope went on to raise her remaining six beautifully.

After being abandoned, surviving outdoors and then immediately becoming a mum, we decided Lady P had done quite enough for everyone else. She became a permanent sanctuary resident so she could finally have the security she deserved and learn what life as a happy, carefree rabbit was supposed to feel like.

Ronnie is a bossy little character who knows exactly what he wants and certainly doesn't let the other rabbits push him around. After the start he had in life, we think he's more than earned the right to have a few opinions! 

His story: Ronnie was rescued from a house where he was living in extremely poor conditions alongside two other rabbits. As far as his rescuer was aware, Ronnie had never experienced sunlight or grass beneath his paws and hadn't been provided with an appropriate diet. He was found living in a small, filthy cage without hay and with very limited access to water.

When Ronnie arrived at MMRS, he received a full veterinary check and began the process of recovering. He gained weight, moulted out his poor old coat and discovered the joys of plentiful hay, forage, treats and being thoroughly spoilt.

Perhaps most importantly, Ronnie has gradually learned that humans aren't all scary — or idiots — and that some of us might actually be worthy of his trust. 

He's come an enormous way from the frightened little rabbit he once was. Now Ronnie gets to live safely as part of the Meadows family, where the future for our wee man is very bright indeed.

Snowy is our fearless little adventurer — curious, confident and permanently on the lookout for something new to explore, play with… or steal. There's rarely a dull moment when Snowy is around.

Her story: Snowy was born here at MMRS alongside her siblings. From the very beginning, she made it clear that she intended to experience absolutely everything life had to offer. She was the first out of the nest, the first to investigate hay and pellets and, naturally, the first to figure out how to escape their enclosure!

As Snowy has grown, she has unfortunately developed ongoing digestive problems and experiences frequent episodes of diarrhoea. Because of this, we need to monitor her closely and be particularly careful with her diet and overall health.

Thankfully, Snowy doesn't seem to have received the memo that she's supposed to slow down. She's still the same outgoing, mischievous little girl who loves exploring tunnels, investigating new things and generally keeping us on our toes.

Snowy is bold, cheeky and endlessly curious — and whatever her health throws at her, we'll be right here to make sure she gets all the care she needs.

Truffle is a very gentle, sensitive little lady who came to us with almost no experience of positive human interaction. She's naturally cautious and likes to approach life — and people — entirely at her own pace.

Her story: Truffle was surrendered to MMRS after finding herself in unsafe living conditions. When she arrived, she had very little experience of being handled or interacting with people and was understandably terrified. She would hide as soon as she heard or saw us and cower whenever we approached her enclosure, even when we were simply cleaning around her.

Truffle became a permanent sanctuary resident so there would never be any pressure on her to become a cuddly or confident rabbit for the sake of finding a home. Instead, she could settle into the fluffle, surrounded by other rabbits who could help show her that humans aren't always something to fear.

And slowly, our little lady has started to trust us. Truffle now accepts gentle strokes — something that would have been unimaginable when she first arrived. We still let her set the pace and never ask more of her than she's comfortable giving.

Whether she ever becomes a completely confident bunny doesn't matter. Every tiny step Truffle chooses to take is a victory, and she has a safe home here for life where she can simply enjoy being a rabbit.

Vern is quite possibly one of the cuddliest little souls at the Meadows. He's a wonderfully chilled-out boy who loves nothing more than a good nap, a snuggle and sitting proudly on top of his castle watching the world go by.

His story: Vern was born here at MMRS alongside his siblings and was named after my late grandfather, making him particularly special to me. From the time he was tiny, Vern loved snuggling down inside my top for long naps — and apparently nobody has told him he's grown up, because he still tries to climb in there now! 

Being the fluffiest of his siblings means Vern needs a little extra help with grooming to keep his coat clean and comfortable. He also experiences ongoing discharge from his tear ducts, so his eyes need regular cleaning and monitoring.

None of this seems to bother our laid-back little fellow. When he isn't attempting to turn me into a human sleeping bag, you'll usually find him relaxing on top of his castle, surveying his kingdom.

Vern is gentle, affectionate and ridiculously loveable — a very special little bunny with a very special name.

Norman is our big, chonky boy with the most spectacular fur and a face that makes him look permanently fed up with absolutely everybody. 😂 Formerly known as Dreamer, he earned his new name thanks to his unmistakable grumpy-old-man expression — Norman simply suits him far too well.

His story: Norman came to MMRS through absolutely no fault of his own. Sadly, his previous owner's daughter was struggling significantly with asthma, and despite the family's best efforts, Norman's moulting continued to aggravate her symptoms.

Since arriving at the Meadows, Norman has settled into sanctuary life beautifully. He fitted into the fluffle so naturally that it quickly felt as though he'd always been here.

Behind that wonderfully unimpressed face is a very special boy who has completely made himself at home — although we're fairly certain Norman will continue judging everything we do regardless.

Hazel is our little Spanish lady with a wonderfully outgoing personality. She's confident, sociable and has taken sanctuary life completely in her stride — particularly since finding a very special friendship with our resident queen bee, Ahsoka. 

Her story: Hazel originally came from Spain and, after sadly losing her husbun, found herself alone. Her family thought long and hard about bringing another rabbit into their lives, but after experiencing the heartbreak of losing him, they didn't feel able to go through it again.

Wanting Hazel to have the companionship and security she deserved for her remaining years, they asked whether she could come to MMRS and become a permanent member of our sanctuary fluffle. Of course, we said yes.

Hazel settled beautifully and soon formed a wonderful friendship with Ahsoka. The pair can regularly be found lounging around together, looking thoroughly content with their arrangement.

Hazel certainly doesn't seem fazed by where her journey has taken her. From Spain to the Meadows, she's found herself a best friend, a whole fluffle of companions and a home for life.

Pumpkin is our not-so-little baby girl with absolutely enormous ears, an equally impressive appetite and seemingly no understanding whatsoever of how big she's becoming. She loves jiggle balls, stacking cups and attempting to squeeze herself through tunnels she quite clearly no longer fits through.

Her story: Pumpkin was found as a stray and came to MMRS as a young Continental Giant weighing around 2kg. Since arriving at the Meadows, she's absolutely flourished and has nearly doubled her weight — she's now approaching a whopping 4kg, with plenty of growing still to do!

Somewhere along the way, Pumpkin also completely stole Bonnie's heart. Since the two became companions, she's had an incredible calming influence on him and they've become a wonderful little pair.

And this is where we'll admit to being just a tiny bit selfish... Pumpkin isn't staying because she's unrehomable. She's staying because we completely fell in love with her. 

With Jar Jar being such a special part of our sanctuary family, we also knew we wanted another Continental Giant to become part of the future of the Meadows. Pumpkin fitted into life here so beautifully that we simply couldn't imagine the sanctuary without those ridiculous ears in it.

So our formerly tiny stray is officially home — where she can continue eating everything in sight, causing chaos with her toys and discovering, one tunnel at a time, that being a Continental Giant means you can't fit through everything forever.

Herbie is our shy, gentle little man who looks suspiciously like someone put Jar Jar through the wash and shrunk him. He's still learning that the world isn't quite as frightening as he once thought, and watching his personality slowly emerge has been incredibly special.

His story: Herbie — originally named Hermit, until our girls repeatedly called him Herbie and the name inevitably stuck — came from a farmer's barn where he had been living alongside his brother and a large number of guinea pigs. Their care was extremely limited, with Herbie being fed chicken feed and vegetables whenever the farmer remembered to provide them.

Sadly, Herbie's brother developed severe ear disease and by the time help came, it was too advanced to treat. Herbie arrived at MMRS without his companion and understandably deeply traumatised by everything he'd experienced.

When he first came to us, Herbie was frightened of everyone. His ears were almost permanently held down and he would retreat into himself whenever people were around. We knew this little boy needed time, patience and the security of knowing that nobody was going to ask anything of him before he was ready.

And then along came Ahsoka. 

Herbie now shares Ahsoka with her best friend Hazel. Herbie and Ahsoka are completely besotted with one another. Their relationship has helped him begin to come out of his shell and discover what life with companionship, safety and proper care can actually be like.

Herbie still has a way to go, and that's absolutely okay. He has all the time in the world here. Every little bit of confidence he gains is another glimpse of the rabbit underneath all that fear — and we're very excited to meet him.

Daisy is our super-spicy little Spanish lady with a very pretty face and absolutely no hesitation in letting you know when you've overstepped the mark. She has strong opinions about humans interfering with her belongings and is more than happy to make those opinions known.

Her story: Daisy was found roaming the streets of Spain before eventually making her way to MMRS. We don't know what happened to her before she was found, or what experiences may have shaped the little rabbit she is today.

What we do know is that Daisy finds many everyday interactions with humans extremely difficult. Feeding her, cleaning her enclosure or even attempting to clean her water bowl can trigger an aggressive response, and she's not afraid to attack when she feels threatened or uncomfortable.

Interestingly, there is a softer side hiding underneath all that spice. If Daisy is happily distracted by food, she will accept gentle strokes — although we're still not entirely convinced she understands a word of English. 

Daisy also suffers from sore hocks, which require ongoing monitoring and management to keep her comfortable.

Because of her behavioural and health needs, we don't believe rehoming would be fair to Daisy or an adopter. Here at the Meadows, there's no expectation that she has to become a cuddly bunny or learn to enjoy human interaction. We can adapt her care around who she is, give her the space she needs and let her set the boundaries.

Daisy may be tiny, spicy and occasionally convinced we're trying to steal her water bowl — but she's safe, understood and has a permanent home here exactly as she is.
